Brands

Guide

A brand is a product, client, or label your organisation runs press and sales activity under. Every organisation gets one automatically when it's created (named after the organisation itself), and most stay on that single brand forever - a brand only really becomes a decision once you're running more than one thing at a time.

When you need more than one

Two situations come up in practice:

  • An agency working with multiple clients. Each client gets its own brand - its own contacts, pipeline, press kit, and campaign history, kept separate from every other client in the same organisation.
  • A company with multiple products or labels. If "Acme Inc" ships two products under different names with different press contacts, each product is its own brand.

If neither applies to you, you don't need a second brand - there's no cost or complexity to staying on one.

What's shared, what's separate

Contacts, companies, deals, pipelines, media lists, campaigns, and press coverage all belong to a specific brand. Your team, billing, and organisation-wide settings don't - they're shared across every brand in the organisation. A contact can also be linked to more than one brand at once, for the (less common) case of a partner or journalist you work with across several of your products.

Switching between brands

The brand switcher in the sidebar lets you focus on one brand at a time, or pick All brands for a combined view across everything your account can see. Which brands that includes depends on your access - see below.

Restricting a team member to specific brands

By default, every member sees every brand. If you're an agency and don't want one client's team member (or contractor) seeing another client's data, an admin can restrict a standard member to specific brands from Settings → Users - open the brand-access icon next to their name and select which brands they should see. Clearing the selection returns them to unrestricted. Admins can't be restricted; they always have full access, which is what makes them able to grant it to others.

Creating a brand

From the brand switcher, choose Manage brands to add a new one - a name is all that's required, with optional description, website, colour, and icon to tell it apart at a glance in the sidebar and on badges throughout the app.
